
The national flag of India is in horizontal form and tricolour of deep saffron, white and India green. Ashok chakra, which is 24 spoke-wheel in navy blue color in the flag’s center.The India flag was adopted in a meeting of Constituent Assembly held on 22 July 1947. Before this meeting there is “Charkha” [Which referred to Mahatma Gandhi] was in center of the flag instead of the Ashok Chakra and the flag called “The Swaraj Flag”. In India this term tricolour meant to “Tiranga”. The Indian Flag was designed by the Pingali Venkayya.
On 15th August 1947 India get the Independence from the “British Raaj”. Since than India is celebrating Independence Day on 15th August every year. The year 2011 is the 63rd Independance Day of India. On Independence Day India Flag hoisting, Parades, Singing patriotic songs, Speech by the Prime Minister, Family reunions, Picnics, Kite flying etc are the parts of the celebration. On 15th August, the Indian Prime Minister hoists the Indian flag on the historical place, The “Red Fort” also known as “Lal Qilaa”.
